The Wellthy Athlete: Competitive Edge Protocol
Give Your Young Athlete the Competitive Edge
The Competitive Edge Protocol optimizes health, performance, and recovery for youth athletes through functional nutrition, injury prevention, and clean fueling strategies.
Most Young Athletes Are Unknowingly Sabotaging Their Performance
Here’s what most parents (and even coaches) don’t realize:
Underfueling is epidemic in youth sports — Athletes aren't eating enough to support their training demands, leading to RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport), missed periods, stress fractures, and long term health damage.
"Healthy" doesn't always mean optimal — Salads and grilled chicken might seem healthy, but athletes need strategic fueling—timing, macros, and micronutrients matter.
Toxic exposures slow recovery — From sports drinks loaded with artificial dyes to toxic household products, what they're exposed to daily impacts performance, inflammation, and healing.
Gut health IS athletic performance — A compromised gut means poor nutrient absorption, inflammation, weakened immunity, and less energy.
Most supplements are a waste — Low-quality products with fillers, banned substances, or nutrients their body can't even absorb.
The good news? All of this can be fixed.
With the right nutrition, clean fueling strategies, and non-toxic living, your athlete can:
Recover faster
Build strength and endurance
Prevent injuries
Sustain energy through long training days
Perform at their peak—consistently
That’s exactly what The Competitive Edge Protocol does.

How it Works
Your Athlete’s Transformation Journey
WEEK 1: Discovery & Assessment
After enrollment, both parent and athlete complete comprehensive intake forms covering:
– Athletic history, training schedule, competition goals
– Injury history and current concerns
– Current nutrition and fueling habits
– Growth, development, and menstrual health (for female athletes)
– Body image, stress, and mental health
– Family eating patterns and support
Our first 60-minute session (parent + athlete together) is where we:
– Review everything in depth
– Discuss performance goals and obstacles
– Begin identifying root causes of symptoms/struggles
– Set expectations and create initial action steps
WEEKS 2-12 (or 2-24): Implementation & Support
Every two weeks, we meet for 45-minute coaching sessions where we:
– Review training schedule and upcoming competitions
– Assess progress (energy, recovery, performance, injuries)
– Troubleshoot challenges (picky eating, travel, competition nerves)
– Adjust protocols based on training demands
– Set actionable goals for the next two weeks
– Celebrate wins!
Parent + athlete work together to implement:
– Performance fueling strategies
– Supplement protocols
– Non-toxic swaps at home
– Recovery habits
– Meal prep and planning
– Between sessions, parents have text/email access for quick questions, product recommendations, and support.
ONGOING: Protocol Refinement
As we track data (energy levels, recovery time, injury status, performance metrics, menstrual cycles), we refine the protocol. What works during heavy training might shift during competition season—we adjust in real-time.
END OF PROGRAM: Thriving Athlete
By the end, your athlete will have:
– Optimized nutrition and fueling strategies
– Reduced injury risk and improved recovery
– Built healthy habits that support long-term athletic success
– Knowledge to maintain peak performance independently
Many families continue with maintenance sessions during competitive seasons or extend programs through college recruitment years.
You’ve tried elimination diets, expensive supplements, and every health trend on Instagram. Some things help temporarily, but nothing sticks. Nothing gets to the root cause.
You’re tired of feeling this way. You’re ready for answers. You’re ready to feel like yourself again.
Is The Competitive Edge Protocol Right for Your Athlete?
This program is perfect if:
Your athlete is 10-18 years old and competing at a serious level
They're dealing with frequent injuries, slow recovery, or performance plateaus
You're ready to invest in their long-term health, not just short-term wins
You're willing to make changes as a family (meal prep, shopping, support)
Your athlete is motivated (or at least willing) to participate
You value root-cause solutions over quick fixes
This program is NOT right if:
Your athlete is not interested or resistant to change
You're not willing to participate as a parent/guardian
You want performance gains without addressing health foundations
You're looking for a quick fix before a competition next week
You're not ready to invest time and resources into the process
Honest truth: Both parent and athlete need to be on board. This requires teamwork, but the results are worth it.
FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Will my athlete have to give up their favorite foods?
No! We don’t believe in restriction or deprivation. We focus on ADDING nutrient-dense foods and strategic fueling—not taking away what they love.
What if my athlete is a picky eater?
We work with that! We’ll find foods they actually enjoy and build from there. Small shifts over time create big changes.
Can we do this if my athlete has food allergies or dietary restrictions?
Absolutely. All protocols are personalized to your athlete’s needs, preferences, and restrictions.
Will my athlete need to take a lot of supplements?
Not necessarily. We only recommend what’s truly needed based on their diet, training demands, and any deficiencies. Budget-friendly options are always prioritized.
How do we balance this with school, homework, and training?
We create realistic, sustainable strategies that fit your family’s schedule. No overcomplicated meal plans or hours of prep required.
What if my athlete doesn't want to participate?
Parent commitment is essential, but the athlete needs to be at least willing (even if not fully motivated yet). We’ve worked with hesitant athletes—many warm up once they start feeling better!
Will this help with mental performance and competition nerves?
Yes! Nutrition impacts mood, anxiety, and mental clarity. Balanced blood sugar, gut health, and proper fueling all support mental performance.
Do you work with the athlete's coach?
With your permission, yes! We can coordinate with coaches to ensure our recommendations align with their training plan.
What if my athlete gets injured during the program?
We’ll adjust the protocol to support healing and recovery. Injury doesn’t stop the program—it refocuses it.
